Today we travelled east to meet the coast. Not before touring the coal mines of the Blackwater and Callide areas. We checked out the local mines at Blackwater before driving parallel to the train line. This was interesting in itself as we raced many diesel trains and watched the surrounding countryside continue to change.

Flat plains are no longer our horizon, instead we're surrounded by mountains, small and large, cattle, trees and green grass (for now). After reaching our lunch stop at Callide mine lookout we stopped for pics and explained the mine to the kids.

We drove a lovely bumpy but interesting trip to Tannum Sands, passing less road trains, plenty of caravans and waiting to see the sea.

It wasn't too long before we spotted the beautiful coastal spot for our last stop. We're here for a few nights to enjoy some rest and relaxation and take in all the salt air we can.
