This has probably been one of the busiest days for us so far. It also marked what Craig and I would say is the biggest change in scenery of the trip. We started the day with a tour of the Roma Saleyards (the largest sale yards in the Southern Hemisphere). A few facts and figures to remember: there were over 11,000 head of cattle sold today at the Roma Saleyards, in excess of $9mil exchanged in the sale and we saw less than 30 buyers at the sale yards. We were shocked at the little number of purchasers, however we understand now that this is due to agents being used to purchase for a number of buyers. Harvey HATED the smell and spent the entire 45 min with his hands over his nose. Grandad nearly bought a cow putting his phone up to film the auctioneer (well Nanna and I were a little concerned) so we high tailed it out of there before we were given a pen of cattle.

Our next stop was lunch at Mitchell and we then continued to Charleville (forever to be known as Charlie-ville after a story by our Saleyard tour guide). Now we're 10+ hours away from home the scenery has changed from vast plains to rich, colourful and contrasting landscape. The road was littered with road kill which was also unlike the previous legs of our trip.

We arrived in Charleville and had lunch at the Cosmos Centre to explore the history of space.

After finishing at the Cosmos Centre we stopped in at the Royal Flying Doctors Museum and were treated to more fascinating facts about the Mantle of Safety for outback Australia.

We drove around as we tried to decide where to set up camp and ended up at the highly recommended Evening Star Caravan Park. What a treat. Craig the owner greeted us with a beer in hand, told us to park ANYWHERE and offered us a hand to set up. He told us to come and join him for a drink when we were finished and after a quick 10min set up we were there. Hanging out in the bush bar we got the history of the park and the interesting background of our host Craig. He has just become a Dad (4 weeks ago) and after a little wait his baby girl came to have a cuddle. Harvey was besotted with baby Amelia and we took her for a little walk to calm her down before her dinner. The kids had a ride on the buggy around the farm and then we went to the camp vegetable patch to harvest some veggies for dinner.

The best camp ground we've stayed in by far. Such a fabulous adventure!
